Il 29 aprile 2006 a Sant'Elpidio a Mare è stato presentato il Movimento ecosofico e civile “Per la terra e per l’uomo”, ispirato alla “Carta di Arenzano”, documento di principio in merito all'emergenza ecologica che era stato firmato, il 15 luglio 2001, dai più grandi poeti del mondo (da Derek Walcott a Seamus Heaney, ad Adonis, da Bei Dao a Mario Luzi, da Yves Bonnefoy ad Andrea Zanzotto, a John Ashbery, solo per nominarne qualcuno).All’evento intervennero due firmatari della “Carta”: Tahar Bekri e John Deane.
